On 15th August 2025, a webinar was organized by the IBVM/CJ UN NGO Office on “International Youth Day Webinar: Local Youth Action for Gender Equality.” It began with the announcement of the SDG 5 Photography Challenge winners: Heritage Sanmi, Mona, and Praise Mukuya. They shared the challenges they face as women, what inspired them, and how these experiences can motivate young women and girls. They also spoke about cyberbullying, harassment, and the importance of women understanding their value, along with the stories behind the photos they clicked. Important topics such as women’s education, AI education for women, and how sustained community discussions can empower girls and change social norms were also highlighted. Later, the floor was opened for women to share ideas, and the moderator, Riya Mehta, asked, “What is one local action you want to see scaled in your community?” Responses included gender equality programs, education, leadership training, menstrual hygiene awareness, girl advocacy, women empowerment, and girl protection. Overall, it was a very enriching and inspiring session that encouraged all of us to reflect, take action, and work together for gender equality and empowerment.
